In 2022, we began the renovation of Villa W. in Bloemendaal. The property is a listed monument and is among the oldest buildings in Bloemendaal, dating back to around 1850.
Our aim was to restore the monument to its former glory, make it more sustainable, and create additional space by relocating the kitchen to its own outbuilding.
Together with the landscape architects of Studio Redd, we integrated their garden design into the overall vision of the project.

Restoring its former glory

In restoring the historic building, the layout was adjusted—alongside improving the property’s sustainability, refreshing the exterior façades, and renewing the roof—so that all living spaces could fully benefit from the movement of the sun and the surrounding environment.

A new wing was added to the rear of the building to house the kitchen, allowing the monumental sections and rooms of the main building to remain intact. The original rear façade was restored by removing the conservatory, which had not been part of the original design.

The garage building has been more seamlessly connected to the main house through a new link added at the front.
