In the ”Central Park” of Haarlem, lies the monumental building Dreefzicht. It resides in the city park of Haarlemmerhout, the oldest city park in the Netherlands. The building from 1840 was famously designed by architect & landscape architect J.D. Zocher. Jr. This is the second building by J.D. Zocher we’ve had the opportunity to work with after the former psychiatric hospital Carré van Bloemendaal.

Currently the entrance to the restaurant and offices inside, lies hidden on the backside. We took the opportunity to create a more representative entrance and extension that honors the historic structure. With this, the new whole aims to strengthen the monumental character of the project whilst making it more accessible.
