ing. Bram Persoon

I am Bram, a final year student of architecture at the university of applied sciences in Haarlem and I am doing an internship at HeikoHulsker architects for half a year.

My working day starts around 8:30 am. As an intern you will be linked to an internal internship supervisor and architect/project leader within the team. Together we discuss which activities of the project I can carry out independently. I experience good internal guidance where there is a lot of room to ask questions.

We work in ArchiCAD and the great thing is that at the start of my internship I was allowed to follow an ArchiCAD course on behalf of the office. The course is a very good basis and I can therefore immediately participate in the processes of the firm. For example, working on a drawings or carrying out the design for the projects. There are many varied projects with different challenges, allowing me to gain a lot of experience within the different disciplines.

Around 10:30 am there is a short coffee break in which the projects of that week are discussed. In addition to the monthly project presentations, I learn a lot about current projects within the office in this way.

My experience is that the working week is varied and there is a pleasant working atmosphere. Everyone is ready to help each other. There are many opportunities and possibilities to go through all phases of the architectural projects.

I can decide for myself which direction is best for me. I think it's really cool to do the technical elaboration of a project. I would like to specialize in this.

My internship fits in very well with my education. The knowledge gained during my studies can be applied very well in my work.

Fortunately, there is a large lunch table, so that you can have lunch together with a the collegues and/or in fine weather on the sunny terrace.
